New prefixes

As we have already learned a lot of German words can be formed with the help of the prefixes. So knowing the different prefixes you not only can understand the meaning of the words even if you were not familiar with them before, but also form new words.

Here are two new prefixes:

   Ge-forms neuter nouns that indicate a repeated or a long action (from verbs), often degrading and derogatory in meaning; often with the suffix "-e" 

• jammern - das Gejammer (moaning and groaning)
• schreien - das Geschrei (yelling)

  Grund-"basic", "essential", "fundamental"

• die Frage - die Grundfrage (fundamental issue)
• der Kurs - der Grundkurs (basic course)
