Today's expression is a true native-speaker phrase that you won't learn in any text-book.
Each year millions of Germans travel to foreign countries. Sometimes though even Germans do not have a possibility to spend their vacation abroad and have to stay at home. In this case they ironically say:
Urlaub auf Balkonien haben, verbringen.
The term "Balkonien" derives from "Balkon" (balcony) and should sound like German names of Italy (Italien) or Spain (Spanien).
